What time is the departure?
We normally depart at 6:00 AM but as we know you are probably here with the family or on business we need to be flexible. So the question becomes, “When do you want to leave?” However the fishing is generally better early in the morning and the wind is less if you plan to fly fish.

Is it possible to make a fly fishing or spin tackle fishing reservation when I get to Cancun?

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FISHING

What are we likely to catch?
In the Nichupte Lagoon – in front of the Cancun Hotel Zone where we go you may catch baby Tarpon, Snook, Permit, Snapper, Bone Fish, Barracuda and Lady Fish or Skip Jack.

What happens to the fish we catch?
We practice a strict “catch and release” policy as the lagoon is a protected area. Since no commercial fishing is allowed you will see plenty of action in the channels, flats and mangroves right in the Cancun hotel zone.

Do you provide the equipment?
Yes, if you are fly-fishing or spin tackle fishing we supply the equipment. Tackle is important so we use:

• For Fly Fishing; “G-Loomis” fly rods with “Tibor” or “Bauer” reels
• For Spin Tackle; “Shimano” and “Penn” rods and reels
• Terminal tackle; depends on what specie you are fishing

Can I bring my own equipment?
Absolutely, if you have a favorite rod, reel, lures and flies bring them.

Do I need wading equipment?
No. The boats are actually very shallow draft and the guide will pole you around so all fishing will actually be done from the boat.

What kind of pole, reels, line and flies for fly fishing should I bring if I want to bring my own?
Click here for a complete list of fly and spin tackle.
